We stand for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Germany.

Around 110 organizations and initiatives active nationwide are joined together in the National Coalition Germany - Network for the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. From different walks of life they come together with the aim to promote the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Germany.

We consider the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child as a permanent task. Our members comes name the existing gaps in their specific fields of action and take action there. As an association, the primary task of the National Coalition is a strategic one. It acts as a network organizer, joins initiatives, represents common positions at national and international level and stimulates their affiliates actions on. The aim is to raise awareness on the UN Convention on the rights of the child known and promote its implementation in Germany. Patron of the National Coalition is the Vice President of the German Bundestag, Edelgard Bulmahn.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted on 20 November 1989 by the UN General Assembly. It is the first Covention that recognizes children´s rights and establishes internationally binding minimum standards for the benefit of children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 years in 54 articles. It has since been almost universally ratified and is therefore the human rights instrument with the highest acceptance by the international community.

Since 2013, the National Coalition Germany is registered as an association and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
