Sale of Children
According to the Convention, every child has the right to be protected from all forms of exploitation. The 1996 world congress on the protection of children from sexual exploitation resulted in the recognition that greater efforts were needed in order to be able to combat the infringement of rights arising as a result of globalisation.
This protocol states that all children need to be protected against the sale of children, child prostitution, child pornography as well as solicitation and complicity. Similarly, the need to find and punish perpetrators accordingly was highlighted.
